The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organized an Awareness Programme and Rally on 2 June 2026 under the theme “Serve BRICS 2026: Volunteering for a Better Tomorrow” in observance of World No Tobacco Day (31 May).

Today, as on 25-05-2026, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the college organised a chess competition (Men) under the banner of “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan”.

The College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell of Government Degree College Kangan organized a Community Awareness Programme on 25 May 2026 under the banner of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The programme aimed to spread awareness among community members regarding the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of creating a healthy and drug-free society.

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan on 25 May 2026 organized Cleanliness Drive under Mission LiFE with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable lifestyle practices among students and the local community.

The Department of physical Education and Sports of the college organized a boys Badminton competition under the banner of “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan” as on 21-05-2026 in the college campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who displayed excellent sportsmanship and discipline throughout the competition.

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organised a plantation drive on 19 May 2026 in line with the nationwide “Mission LIFE” initiative aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and sustainable living practices. The programme was conducted on and around the college campus with enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, Programme Officers, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff members, and students.

Government Degree College Kangan on 18 May 2026 organized a Painting Competition under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports organized a “Tug of war” (Girls) as on 16th of May 2026 under “Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan” in the college campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from girls, who displayed team work, strength and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls students, making the competition lively and successful. h

Today, 11th May 2026, the Department of Physical Education and Sports organised a Tug of War (Men) under the banner of “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan” on the college premises with the aim of promoting physical fitness, teamwork and awareness against drug abuse among students. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the POSH Act (2013) of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan on May 4 2026organised a workshop on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and awareness about the SHE-Box platform” on campus

On 02-05-2026 the Department of Physical Education and Sports organized a Volley Ball Match (Men) under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan in the college under the patronage of worthy Principal Prof. Sadaf Nazir, with participation from students of different semesters. The event witnessed energetic participation and high level enthusiasm among the players. Each team displayed impressive Coordination, determination and sportsmanship

The Department of Physical Education and Sports of the college organized a “Yoga and Meditation session” today, 29-04-2026, at 1:00 pm on the college premises under the aegis of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan. The session marked the formal commencement of a series of sports and wellness activities

Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, in collaboration with the Bar Association Kashmir, organized an awareness program under the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. In line with the directions of the District Administration Ganderbal—on 20 April 2026, the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, in collaboration with the NSS Units of the college actively participated in a padyatra organized under the aegis of the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to reinforce the collective commitment towards building a drug-free society.

The Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle organized a programme on the occasion of World Heritage Day on 18th April 2026 at the historic Group of Ancient Temples at Naranag. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. A total of 09 students from GDC Kangan, accompanied by Dr Mohd Younus Thokar (Convener Debates and Seminar Committee), participated in the programme.

ONE-DAY AWARENESS PROGRAM ON DRUG ABUSE Under NASHA MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAN

As part of the nationwide celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan on 15 April 2026, organized a Campus to Community Outreach Program aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle practices among children. The program focused specifically on raising awareness about the adverse effects of excessive screen time and encouraging healthier alternatives

In alignment with the directives of the District Administration, the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, in collaboration with the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, organized a campus-to-community outreach program focusing on drug awareness. The initiative aimed to sensitize the general public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote preventive measures at the grassroots level.

Awareness Programme on Mother and Child Nutrition Organized by NSS Units of GDC Kangan

Today, 06-04-2026, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of GDC Kangan actively participated in a mega plantation drive initiated by Honourable Minister Sakeena Itoo.

A Pledge Ceremony on Energy Conservation was conducted on 12th December 2025 at GDC Kangan. The programme was organised to spread awareness about the importance of saving energy and to encourage responsible use of electricity in daily life. All teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students participated in the ceremony. The event began with a brief introduction on the significance of energy conservation and the need to adopt energy-saving habits in homes, workplaces, and society.

On the occasion of celebration of the constitutional day a vibrant and inspiring Preamble Reading was organized at Govt.Degree College Kangan on 26-11-2025.

The Programme was organized to sensitize the staff of GDC Kangan about the POSH Act 2013 and the use of She Box. The Programme also explained the roles and responsibilities of Internal complaints committee at GDC Kangan

The programme aimed to familiarize students with the significance, features, and practical utility of the SIGMA platform in streamlining academic and administrative processes.A detailed step-by-step demonstration was conducted to guide students on the registration process, enabling them to create their accounts independently on the SIGMA mobile application as well as the web portal.

A one-day training programme for faculty members from various colleges and universities was organized under the "NASHA MUKHT BHARAT ABHIYAN" with the courtesy of the Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education.
