Government Degree College Kangan organised a one-day awareness programme on “Udyam Jagriti 5.0” on 21 August 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about Mission YUVA, entrepreneurship, innovation, self-employment opportunities and participation in the Udyam Jagriti 5.0 Hackathon

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan, in collaboration with the Remote Sensing Department, organized a Rally against the Use of Plastic and Polythene on the college campus on 22 August 2026. The initiative aimed to sensitise students about the harmful environmental consequences of plastic and polythene and to encourage responsible and sustainable practices.

The NSS Units and Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Kangan organized a Walkathon on HIV Awareness on 22 August 2026, in line with the Intensified Campaign under International Youth Day. The activity aimed to sensitise students and the wider community about HIV prevention, awareness, stigma reduction, and the importance of extending care and support to people living with HIV

Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan celebrated Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of national pride in the college premises. The programme was organised to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India and to inculcate the values of patriotism, unity, national integration and responsible citizenship among students.

As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga/Vande Mataram@150 Campaign – Phase III, 2026, a Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan Rally was organized on 13 August 2026 by the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan in collaboration with the District Administration, Ganderbal. The rally was held in connection with the celebrations commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram and the 80th Independence Day of the nation.

The rally was organized with the objective of fostering patriotism, national unity, and a sense of responsibility among students and members of the college community.

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organised a Painting Competition on 11 August 2026 as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga / Vande Mataram@150 Campaign – Phase III, 2026 in District Ganderbal. The activity was aimed at fostering a spirit of patriotism, national unity and responsible citizenship among students while providing them with a creative platform to express their understanding of India’s national movement and the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram.

A Drug De-Addiction Awareness Programme was organized on 10 August 2026 by the Indian Red Cross Society (J&K) in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Kangan, with the objective of sensitizing students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting awareness regarding prevention, early intervention, and rehabilitation. Today as on 30-06-2026, Department of Physical Education and Sports of the College organized a Girls Carrom Competition under the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan with the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle, encouraging active participation in sports, and creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The event aimed to motivate students to adopt sports as a positive way of life and strengthen the message of a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society.

As part of the observance of “NashaMukhtSaptah” (Drug-Free Week), the NSS Units organized a screening of an awareness film on 20th June, 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of educating students and creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction. The event commenced with a brief introduction by the NSS Programme Officers, who highlighted the significance of NashaMukhtSaptah and the need to build a drug-free society

To kickstart the week-long nationwide campaign “Nasha Mukht Saptah” running from 17th June 2026 to 26th June 2026, the NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organized a Solemn and impactful Mass Pledge against Drug Abuse on 17 June 2026.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who displayed excellent sportsmanship and discipline throughout the competition.

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organised a plantation drive on 19 May 2026 in line with the nationwide “Mission LIFE” initiative aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and sustainable living practices. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the POSH Act (2013) of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan on May 4 2026organised a workshop on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and awareness about the SHE-Box platform” on campus

The Department of Physical Education and Sports of the college organized a “Yoga and Meditation session” today, 29-04-2026, at 1:00 pm on the college premises under the aegis of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan. The session marked the formal commencement of a series of sports and wellness activities

Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, in collaboration with the Bar Association Kashmir, organized an awareness program under the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The program was graced by Advocate Altaf Gandarbali, Union President of the Bar Association of Kashmir, who administered the Nasha Mukht pledge to the participants, encouraging them to commit to a drug-free lifestyle.

In line with the directions of the District Administration Ganderbal—on 20 April 2026, the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, in collaboration with the NSS Units of the college actively participated in a padyatra organized under the aegis of the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to reinforce the collective commitment towards building a drug-free society.

The Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle organized a programme on the occasion of World Heritage Day on 18th April 2026 at the historic Group of Ancient Temples at Naranag. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. A total of 09 students from GDC Kangan, accompanied by Dr Mohd Younus Thokar (Convener Debates and Seminar Committee), participated in the programme.

ONE-DAY AWARENESS PROGRAM ON DRUG ABUSE Under NASHA MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAN

As part of the nationwide celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan on 15 April 2026, organized a Campus to Community Outreach Program aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle practices among children. The program focused specifically on raising awareness about the adverse effects of excessive screen time and encouraging healthier alternatives

In alignment with the directives of the District Administration, the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, in collaboration with the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, organized a campus-to-community outreach program focusing on drug awareness. The initiative aimed to sensitize the general public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote preventive measures at the grassroots level.

Awareness Programme on Mother and Child Nutrition Organized by NSS Units of GDC Kangan

Today, 06-04-2026, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of GDC Kangan actively participated in a mega plantation drive initiated by Honourable Minister Sakeena Itoo.

A Pledge Ceremony on Energy Conservation was conducted on 12th December 2025 at GDC Kangan. The programme was organised to spread awareness about the importance of saving energy and to encourage responsible use of electricity in daily life. All teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students participated in the ceremony. The event began with a brief introduction on the significance of energy conservation and the need to adopt energy-saving habits in homes, workplaces, and society.

On the occasion of celebration of the constitutional day a vibrant and inspiring Preamble Reading was organized at Govt.Degree College Kangan on 26-11-2025.

The Programme was organized to sensitize the staff of GDC Kangan about the POSH Act 2013 and the use of She Box. The Programme also explained the roles and responsibilities of Internal complaints committee at GDC Kangan

The programme aimed to familiarize students with the significance, features, and practical utility of the SIGMA platform in streamlining academic and administrative processes.A detailed step-by-step demonstration was conducted to guide students on the registration process, enabling them to create their accounts independently on the SIGMA mobile application as well as the web portal.

A one-day training programme for faculty members from various colleges and universities was organized under the "NASHA MUKHT BHARAT ABHIYAN" with the courtesy of the Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education.
