Celebrating 150 Years of Vande Mataramunder Har Ghar Tiranga / Vande Mataram@150 Campaign – Phase III, 2026

The NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan organized an Essay Competition on 10 August 2026 as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga / Vande Mataram@150 Campaign – Phase III, 2026 in District Ganderbal.

The competition was organized on the theme:

“150 Years of Vande Mataram: Its Legacy in India’s Journey from Freedom to Nation-Building”

The programme commenced with the display of the National Flag, in accordance with the Flag Code of India, with the collective singing of "Vande Mataram". The participants and faculty members thereafter joined in the singing of Vande Mataram, marking the beginning of the commemorative activity and reflecting upon the historic role of the song in inspiring national consciousness during India’s freedom struggle. Following the inaugural proceedings, the students participated in the essay competition. The activity provided students an opportunity to explore the historical significance, enduring legacy and contemporary relevance of Vande Mataram. Participants reflected on the role played by the song in fostering patriotism and unity during the freedom movement and discussed its relevance to nation-building, national integration and responsible citizenship in contemporary India. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed their ideas and perspectives through well-structured essays. The activity also encouraged students to connect India’s historical struggle for independence with the responsibilities of the present generation towards the nation. The programme concluded with appreciation for the participants and a reaffirmation of the spirit of national unity, patriotism and responsible citizenship embodied by the Vande Mataram@150 and Har Ghar Tiranga campaigns.

The event was successfully conducted by the NSS Units of Government Degree College Kangan as part of the college’s activities commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram.
