Mission YUVA Jammu and Kashmir is designed to promote youth entrepreneurship and foster a culture of self-employment. The initiative aims to encourage young individuals to establish their own enterprises rather than solely relying on government employment opportunities. It provides collateral-free and affordable financial support to first-time entrepreneurs, with special emphasis on empowering women, persons with disabilities, and unemployed youth. Over a period of five years, the mission envisions the creation of approximately 1.37 lakh new enterprises and the generation of nearly 4.25 lakh employment opportunities.
Four Pillars of Mission YUVA (4C Model)
1. Culture (Udyam Jagriti)
This pillar focuses on nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among the youth. Through awareness initiatives such as Udyam Jagriti programmes, the mission encourages students and young individuals to explore business opportunities and adopt a “start your own venture” approach. It also aims to create a supportive ecosystem that inspires innovation and risk-taking in entrepreneurship.
2. Capital
Under this component, financial assistance is provided in the form of easy and accessible loans to aspiring entrepreneurs. The scheme offers subsidy support of approximately 25% for the general category and 30% for women and persons with disabilities. Additionally, an interest subvention of around 5–6% is provided to reduce the financial burden and make entrepreneurship more viable.
3. Capacity (Training Programmes)
This pillar emphasizes skill development and capacity building through structured training programmes. These programmes cover essential areas such as business management, technological know-how, and sector-specific skills. The objective is to equip youth with the competencies required to successfully establish and manage enterprises.
4. Connectivity
The connectivity component focuses on linking entrepreneurs with markets and customers. It facilitates access to e-commerce platforms, trade fairs, and employment portals, thereby enhancing market reach. The initiative also supports the promotion of local products and services beyond regional boundaries, ensuring broader visibility and business growth.
