In line with the nationwide celebrations of Poshan Pakhwada, the NSS units of Government Degree College Kangan on 22 April 2026 organized an outreach visit to a nearby Anganwadi Centre located in the Margund area. The program was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness about nutrition, health, and well-being among children, women, and the local community. The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who were accompanied by NSS Programme Officers. Upon arrival at the Anganwadi Centre, the team was warmly received by the Anganwadi workers and local beneficiaries. The program commenced with an introductory session highlighting the significance of Poshan Pakhwada, which is celebrated annually to address issues related to malnutrition and to promote healthy dietary practices, especially among children, adolescent girls, and pregnant and lactating mothers.

During the visit, NSS volunteers conducted interactive awareness sessions focusing on:

• Importance of balanced diet and proper nutrition
• Hygienic practices and sanitation
• Role of locally available nutritious food
• Importance of maternal and child healthcare

The volunteers used simple and engaging methods such as demonstrations, discussions, and awareness talks to effectively communicate key messages. Special emphasis was laid on the importance of including green vegetables, fruits, and protein-rich foods in daily diets. In addition, the NSS team also distributed informational pamphlets and interacted individually with the beneficiaries to address their queries and concerns regarding nutrition and health practices. Overall, the visit proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative, reinforcing the commitment of NSS units of GDC Kangan towards community service and social awareness.
