Today on 06-04-2026, NSS Units and teaching and non-teaching staff of Government Degree College, Kangan, actively participated in a Mega Plantation Drive initiated by Honourable Minister Sakeena Itoo. The programme was organized by the college under the able guidance of the Principal, Prof. Sadaf Nazir whose enthusiastic participation motivated every one . The drive was conducted both within the college campus and in nearby areas, including Akhal and Satrina (Kangan). The primary objective of the initiative was to promote environmental awareness, enhance green cover, and encourage community participation in sustainable practices. On the college campus, volunteers carried out systematic plantation of saplings, ensuring proper spacing and care measures. In addition, NSS teams extended the drive to Akhal and Satrina, where they planted a significant number of saplings and trees, contributing to the ecological improvement of these areas. During the drive, approximately 220 plants were planted which include both flowering and non-flowering plants. such as pine, pansy, and petunia, Palm Gazania, Dazie etc selected for their environmental and aesthetic value. The participation of the Honourable Minister added great significance to the event and motivated the volunteers. The event witnessed active involvement, teamwork, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility among participants. The plantation drive not only contributed to increasing greenery but also served as a platform to spread awareness about the importance of conserving nature. Overall, the programme was a great success, reflecting the commitment of GDC Kangan towards environmental sustainability and community engagement.
