Awareness Programme on Mother and Child Nutrition Organized by NSS Units of GDC Kangan



The NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan organized an awareness programme on Mother and Child Nutrition on 11 April 2026 as part of the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada (09–23 April 2026). The programme aimed to spread awareness about the importance of proper nutrition for mothers and children, emphasizing healthy practices to ensure overall well-being. The event was conducted under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officers and witnessed active participation from NSS volunteers, students, and members of the local community. The programme focused on educating participants about balanced diets, breastfeeding practices, the importance of micronutrients, and the prevention of malnutrition. During the session, volunteers highlighted key aspects such as the significance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life, proper dietary intake during pregnancy, and the role of hygiene and sanitation in maintaining nutritional health. Informative talks, interactive discussions, and awareness slogans were used to effectively convey the message. The volunteers also encouraged mothers to adopt healthy feeding practices and utilize locally available nutritious food. Pamphlets and awareness material were distributed among the attendees to reinforce the key messages delivered during the programme. The initiative was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the efforts of the NSS Units in addressing such an important issue. The programme concluded with a pledge by the attendees to promote nutritional awareness in their families and communities. Overall, the awareness programme was a meaningful step towards supporting the objectives of Poshan Pakhwada and promoting a healthier society.
