Government Degree College (GDC), Kangan organized an Anti-Drug Pledge Taking Ceremony on 13 April 2026 under the aegis of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The programme aimed to spread awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage a collective commitment towards building a drug-free society. The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and NSS volunteers. The ceremony was conducted under the guidance of the Nodal Officers of NMBA, who played a pivotal role in organizing and executing the programme successfully. During the event, the Nodal Officers sensitized the participants about the adverse physical, psychological, and social effects of drug abuse. They highlighted how substance abuse not only affects individual health but also disrupts families, weakens social structures, and hampers national development. The awareness session emphasized the importance of informed choices, peer responsibility, and community support in combating the menace of drugs. Following the awareness session, a pledge-taking ceremony was conducted wherein all participants solemnly pledged to stay away from drugs and contribute actively towards a drug-free society

I will encourage my family members, friends, and society to remain drug-free.

I understand that drug abuse is harmful to health, family, and society.

I will actively participate in creating awareness about the dangers of drugs.

I commit myself to building a healthy, strong, and drug-free India.”The programme concluded with a strong message of unity and responsibility, reinforcing the need for continuous awareness and collective action against drug abuse. The initiative taken by GDC Kangan reflects its commitment towards social responsibility and youth empowerment in alignment with the objectives of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan
