Introduction

In alignment with the directives of the District Administration, the College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, in collaboration with the NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, organized a Campus to Community Outreach Program focusing on drug awareness. The initiative aimed to sensitize the general public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote preventive measures at the grassroots level.

Objectives of the Program

• To raise awareness about the adverse physical, psychological, and social effects of drug abuse.
• To educate the community on preventive strategies and healthy lifestyle choices.
• To engage youth and local residents in meaningful discussions on substance abuse.
• To strengthen community participation in combating drug-related issues.

Organizing Team

The program was conducted under the supervision and active leadership of:

• Dr. Jahangeer Gulzar, Nodal Officer, College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell
• Dr. Aatina Malik, Nodal Officer, College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell

They were supported by dedicated NSS volunteers and students of GDC Kangan.

Program Activities

The outreach team visited nearby communities and interacted with people from diverse age groups, including youth, adults, and elderly residents. The activities conducted included:

• Awareness Sessions: Informative talks highlighting the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on health, families, and society.
• Interactive Discussions: Open conversations encouraged community members to share concerns and ask questions.
• Door-to-Door Campaign: Volunteers reached households to spread awareness and distribute information verbally.
• Youth Engagement: Special emphasis was placed on guiding young individuals about resisting peer pressure and making informed choices.
