As part of the celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day of India, the Department of Urdu, Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan, organized a National Anthem Singing Competition on 06 August 2026. The event aimed to promote patriotism, national unity, and cultural values among students. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Mohd Younus Thokar, whose guidance ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the competition. Students participated with great enthusiasm, displaying remarkable talent and deep respect for the national anthem. Among the participants, Muskan Rashid, Afreen Mushtaq, and Shaista Manzoor delivered an outstanding group rendition of the National Anthem, while Wajid Ali impressed the audience with his exceptional solo performance. Their performances were highly appreciated by the judges, and both the group and the solo performer emerged as the top winners of the competition.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jahangir Gulzar, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, organizing committee, participants, judges, and students for their wholehearted support and enthusiastic participation in making the programme a grand success.
