Government Degree College, Kangan, in collaboration with the Department of Police, Kangan, successfully organized an awareness programme on 13-05-2026 under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan with the objective of sensitizing students and the local community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society. The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and representatives from the police department. The event commenced with a formal welcome address delivered by Prof. Sadaf Nazir, Principal of the college. In her address, she emphasized the growing concern of substance abuse among youth and highlighted the vital role educational institutions play in shaping responsible and aware citizens. She encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change in their communities. The keynote/guest lecture was delivered by the Mr. Ankush Kumkar (Sub-Inspector) from the Police Department, Kangan. The speaker provided valuable insights into the legal, social, and psychological consequences of drug abuse. He also elaborated on the preventive measures being taken by law enforcement agencies and urged students to stay vigilant, avoid harmful influences, and cooperate with authorities in combating this menace. The session was highly interactive, with students engaging in meaningful discussions and raising pertinent questions. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Jahangeer Gulzar, who expressed gratitude to the Police Department, Kangan, for their collaboration and support. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizing team, faculty members, and students for making the programme a success.
