World Heritage Day Programme (18th April 2026)
The Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle organized a programme on the occasion of World Heritage Day on 18th April 2026 at the historic Group of Ancient Temples at Naranag. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage. A total of 09 students from GDC Kangan, accompanied by Dr Mohd Younus Thokar (Convener Debates and Seminar Committee), participated in the programme. The main highlight of the event was a Debate Competition, in which students actively expressed their views on heritage conservation, its challenges, and the role of youth in safeguarding historical sites. The programme commenced with a brief introduction by the organizers, who emphasized the significance of heritage sites like Naranag and the need for their preservation. Participants from various institutions took part in the debate, making the competition both informative and engaging. The students of GDC Kangan participated enthusiastically and showcased commendable speaking skills, critical thinking, and awareness regarding cultural heritage. The visit to the ancient temple complex also gave students practical exposure to the region’s rich historical and architectural legacy. Overall, the programme was highly educational and inspiring.
