Department of Urdu



The department of Urdu was established in the year 2012. The Department focuses on the activities aiming at the development of Urdu Language and Literature. The undergraduate course of the Urdu Language is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge about the Urdu Language and Literature. The Course content of Urdu Language includes script writing, Urdu journalism, Translation of literature, creative writing and comparative study of Urdu with other Languages Viz. English and Kashmiri etc. The Syllabus of the Course is regularly updated keeping in view the urgent needs of the Society. The Department regularly conducts group discussions, Adb-e-Mehfil, Mushayara's and presentations. The study of Urdu Language and Literature offers various career opportunities to the students. The Students have opportunity to pursue career in Journalism and electronic media, teaching, embassies and Administration.

Objectives

The objectives of the department are :

  1. To inculcate positive human values through the study of Urdu Literature.

  5. To enable Students to communicate effectively in Urdu Language in all situations.
