The department of Kashmiri was established in the year 2011, when the college was itself established. The department has remained focus of activities with regard to the development of Kashmiri language. The teaching programme of the department is designed to provide students, the knowledge of Kashmiri language and literature. The course contents of the department is ,script writing, Kashmiri journalism, translation of literature, creative writing and comparative study of Kashmiri with other languages especially for Urdu, Persian and English language, provided the students during the three year study. The courses and the syllabus are constantly being updated taking into consideration the contemporary needs of the society. Our students after completing their course will have the opportunity to get employment in the teaching profession, in the field of journalism and electronic media.

The vision of the department is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Kashmiri language, literature and the art forms like calligraphy, Gazzal singing and promote Kashmiri language and literature.
